Mr. Williams studied screenwriting under Mark Medoff at New Mexico State University in 1991, then went on to work as a grip P.A. on his independent film, "Homage." During that time frame, he wrote spec scripts for sister soaps "The Young And The Restless" and "The Bold And The Beautiful," which were well-received by the producers. He then went on to work as:

  • Grip on a Kenny Loggins music video
  • Boom operator on a technical video starring James Doohan in L.A.
  • Three television commercials for Borman Autoplex of Las Cruces.

During the 1996-97 school year, he attended UCLA's Professional Program In Screenwriting, where he was named a winner in the annual competition among the students. He packaged and produced the winning screenplay, "Close Enough To Perfect," but never found the financing. He has since split that script into two hour-long episodes and has written five more to turn it into a television series, complete with a bible for a 13-episode season.

Other writing contests he has performed well in include:

  • Writer's Network, (finalist)
  • Set In Arizona Competition, (semi-finalist)
  • Scriptapalooza TV Competition, (quarterfinalist)

During the 2005-2006 school year, Mr. Williams attended Governor Richardson's Film Technician Training Program under Mike Laurance's tutilage. At the beginning of the second semester of that program, He was approached by Mr. Laurance, who asked him to write a script to be used as a project for the class. What was eventually born was "100MPG," a collaboration between Mark Medoff and Mr. Williams, a short film that Mr. Medoff directed. Aside from co-writer, Mr. Williams is also credited as unit production manager, key grip and transportation captain on that project.

In June of 2006, Mr. Williams was key grip on "A Day In Heaven," one of the winners of the Governor's Cup short screenplay competition. Mr. Williams is now a member of IATSE as a result of his association with the Film Technician Training Program.
