Mr. Carig graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in film directing and screenwriting where he directed several short student films. Mr. Carig began his directing career for shows on local public cable TV, then on to broadcast television for the News at 10 assisting in program editing and as a cameraman and floor director for local sporting events, and special in-studio programming for broadcast magnet Ralph Wilson Industries in San Jose. His vast knowledge and hands-on experience in directing on-air talent for broadcast TV led to his transition into the feature film industry. Mr. Carig served as a special effects administrative coordinator for special effects master, Richard Edlund of Boss Film Studios, assisting on Ghost, Solar Crisis, Cliffhanger and The Rocketeer. He worked as a story analyst for Producer Gale Anne Hurd’s Pacific Western Productions (Aliens and T2). Mr. Carig continued with special effects coordination and administration for Edge Innovations (Free Willy, Deep Blue Sea). He also studied film directing at the American Film Institute and also under the tutelage of the renowned Judith Weston. Most recently, Mr. Carig directed the promotional trailer for Tao of Surfing, overseeing DP Phil Pfeiffer (Dances with Wolves, The Doors) and underwater DP Chuck Davis (PBS’s Nature series with Jean-Michel Cousteau). Mr. Carig is a member of the Director’s Guild of America (DGA). |
